FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

What does “UDocs” mean?
UDocs stands for “University Documentaries”. All programs are developed and produced in collaboration with students and scholars from leading universities in Canada and the United States.

What is UDocs?
UDocs is an edutainment online platform that provides accredited continuing professional education (CPE/CPD) courses for professionals featuring engaging documentaries as case studies. All films are followed by comprehensive post-screening panel discussions with leading experts, scholars and practitioners. All UDocs programs are developed in collaboration with universities in Canada and the United States. Learn more here.

What type of programs does UDocs offers?
All UDocs programs are accredited CPE/CPD programs with a focus on topics such as professional responsibility, ethics and practice management, Wellness and Mindfulness, or equality, diversity, and inclusion. All programs are approved as valid continuing professional education activities by various professional organizations in Canada and in some jurisdictions in the United States. Accreditation information is available in more detail for each particular program.

How are UDocs films selected?
UDocs works in partnership with documentary markets such as Hot Docs, the largest documentary film festival in North America, to identify engaging documentaries as case studies for the delivery of CPE/CPD programs to professionals. UDocs also works with creators and producers to develop and produce original edutainment documentary films for CPE/CPD purposes.

Why is content limited at this time?
Our team is currently working with our academic and creative partners to deliver a broader range of CPE/CPD content. Sign up to our newsletter to receive updates about the upcoming release of new CPE/CPD edutainment content on UDocs.

How many hours of my CPE/CPD can i fulfill through UDocs?
You may complete your entire CPE/CPD requirement through viewing videos on UDocs. However different jurisdictions have different rules for viewing video content. Due to the changing nature of these requirements, and educational formats considered acceptable, it’s best to visit your professional organization’s website before proceeding.

Do I have to notify the law society to obtain the CPD hours or are they notified through UDocs?
You will receive a Certificate of Completion upon completion of the program which is accredited by professional organizations or may qualify as accredited CPD. There is no need to notify these organizations. Just make sure to keep a copy of your certificate on file (it will remain available under your “UDocs account”).

Can I share my UDocs account with others?
No. It is necessary for each user to have their own account. This is required to properly record CPE/CPD information and provide accurate information to you and your professional organization. Allowing more than one person to use a single account is a breach of UDocs’ terms and conditions and will lead to the account being suspended and your professional organization being informed.

Will I get a Proof of Attendance for CPE/CPD reporting purposes?
A certificate of completion will be automatically generated once you have completed your selected program in its entirety or, for some programs, when you have completed the relevant quiz or test. The certificate will be available for download under your “My UDocs Account” and you will receive a copy by email.

How to access the CPE/CPD content?
All UDocs programs are offered on a pay-per-view basis. You will need to register as a user to access your selected CPE/CPD content. This is a one-time registration. Record your username and password for future use.

How do I pay?
All programs are available on a pay-per-view basis and can be purchased using a credit card. All payments are processed through Stripe or PayPal, well-established and secure payment gateways. You will receive an invoice via email.

Is my online purchase on UDocs secure?
All payments are processed through Stripe or PayPal, well-established and secure payment gateways which provide the technical fraud prevention and technical infrastructure to receive online payments. UDocs does not store any credit card information.

How long will I have access to the program after purchase?
The program will be available for completion during a period of 30 days from the time/date of purchase.

Are discounts available?
Signup to our newsletter to receive special offers and promotional codes. Discounts are also available for large groups upon request.

Are group viewings available?
Group viewings or rates are available for all UDocs courses and are requested quite often–either directly through the online platform or delivered as an in-house CPE/CPD event accompanied by a live expert panel discussion. Contact us with your needs and we will tailor a unique experience for you and your organization.

Why can’t I “mark complete” a chapter?
Each video must be watched to the end in order to “mark complete” a chapter, move to the next chapter, or complete the course.

Lost password?
You can request a new password using the lost password form.

Can I watch the program on my TV?
UDocs is browser-based and it is really like watching a YouTube video in Chrome or Safari. There are ways available to watch the program on your TV. It all depends on your set-up. For example, you could connect your computer to your TV using an HDMI cable, set it up to mirror your laptop screen and watch the program in “full screen” on your TV. Another option would be using a device like Apple TV to mirror your laptop, iPad or iPhone on your TV.
